ObscuraCam: Protect Your Privacy with Anonymized Photos and Videos
ObscuraCam, developed by The Guardian Project, is a multimedia application that helps you protect your privacy while sharing photos and videos with your friends and family. With ObscuraCam, you can blur and disguise faces in your photos and videos, making it impossible for anyone to identify you or the people in the images. The app automatically detects faces in both photos and videos, allowing you to quickly and easily anonymize a crowd or a long video. Moreover, ObscuraCam removes all identifying data stored in photos, including GPS location data and phone make & model, before saving the protected photo to the gallery or sharing it directly to Facebook, Twitter, or any other "Share" enabled app.
ObscuraCam offers multiple privacy modes, including pixelation, complete removal, or disguise with funny nose and glasses, and you can even blur everything except a small portion of an image. The app also protects the identity of the photographer by removing all information attached to every photo taken, such as where it was taken and by what type of camera. ObscuraCam was a winner of the 2013 Knight News Challenge, and it is a partnership between The Guardian Project and WITNESS.org, a non-profit organization using the power of video and storytelling to open the world's eyes to human rights abuses.
